From Feet to Face

Find out the reasons why London's Pedisoaks products and other natural beauty products cost different than conventional products.  We are going to share the top reasons why our products cost just a bit more than our competitors. It may seem like you are breaking the bank, but let's dive in and break down quality versus the quantity.

Occasionally, we are asked by our customers, why should they pay for our products when they can get other items so much cheaper. We try to inform them of the many differences and figured it would be an excellent way to educate others. To us, the answers are fairly simple. Let's get started... Here are a few practical reasons why our products cost more than our competitors.

  1. THE FIRST IS MOST IMPORTANT. The first ingredient has the highest potency. If you look in the ingredients section of many skincare, body care or feet care products the first ingredient typically says water. It comes in different forms such as aqua, distilled water, ionized water, etc. If water is listed first, you are buying mainly water. When it comes to moisturizers having water as the main ingredient is concerning, because it tricks you skin into thinking it moisturized only to be absorbed leaving your skin feeling dry. Our first ingredients is never water, which is why our butters, salves and serums nourish and hydrate your skin.
  2. SMALL YET STRONG. We are a small business and due this simple factor our bulk purchases are much smaller than the big players in the beauty field. The more you buy the cheaper the ingredient, which can result in lower prices.
  3. MADE FRESH IN AMERICA. We are an American-based business manufacturing in America. We do not outsource our products in order to get our goods at a drastically cheaper price. We are handcrafted, handpoured and made with love in the state of Maryland. When you buy beauty products off the shelves do you know when the product was made and if so, how long ago? We make our product in small batches to provide a freshness & quality.
  4. TRULY NATURAL INGREDIENTS. If you have ever taken a moment to check out the ingredient list, you probably get a headache from not being able to pronounce most of the chemicals, parabens, artificial fragrances and coloring. Our ingredients are truly sourced from nature. We grind down most of our products ourselves. We infuse our own oils. We use natural preservatives such as Vitamin E, Leucidal liquid and Rosemary Leaf Extract. We leave all the other nonsense out of our products making them toxin-free, paraben free, artificial coloring free, synthetic fragrance free.
  5. REAL & EFFECTIVE RESULTS. We all love instant results. We want results fast and quick, because we have been trained to want that in our society. But, our products give real long lasting results. With that said, we use very beneficial ingredients like Cupuacu butter, Tamanu Oil, Aloe Vera Oil, Dead Sea Clay, Calendula Oil, Matcha Green Tea, Jojoba Oil and Cranberry Seed Oil. These are powerhouse ingredients that nourish and transform the skin.

Hopefully, this gives you an amazing insight not only in our brand, but for other natural beauty brands. Before we let you go, there are a few beauty brands with products we truly love. We wanted to share our favorites.

Ella + Mia

We believe in showing your feet love 365 days out the year. But this week is extra special since today is Valentine's Day. We have some sexy and fun ways you can pamper your spouses or partner's feet that will have them looking at your in a completely different way.

Before we get started completely, we wanted to drop some useful facts about your feet:

  • There are over 7,000 nerve endings in your feet.
  • Your feet are a major erogenous zone.
  • By relaxing your feet, you will relax your entire body.

The best gift is the gift of touch, especially sensual touch from the one you love. We have some very easy and effective tips on how to pamper your partner's feet. There is no particular order. Let's get started...

  1. Tickle, tickle. Grab yourself a feather (we love a peacock feather) and gentle brush your partners toes. Watch them squirm and giggle.
  2. Wax on, wax off. Get a lotion or cream and rub your partners toes for a wonderful massage. Be sure to use your thumbs.
  3. Scrub a dub, dub. Wash your partners feet. It is an ancient practice and extremely effective to show your partner how much you care. You will need an empty foot bin and a pitcher of warm water, a cleansing soap, a foot cream and a hand towel. Be sure to slowly pour the warm water over your partners feet. Pair this with a glass of wine and stimulating conversation. It's a party.
  4. Flex & release. We mentioned a general massage earlier, but now we want to introduce reflexology. Use a nice oil for this practice. There is a chart to map out your foot, plus here are some basic tips for How to perform Reflexology.
  5. Ice, ice baby. You will need to do a bit of prep work for this one. Put a small Dixie cup filled with water in the freezer. After frozen peel back the reveal some of the ice. Rub the ice cube on your partner feet, the soles of feet, around the ankle bone.
  6. Soak it away. Create a sensual foot soak for your partner. Add some relaxing salts, rose petals, marbles. Allow them to soak their feet.
  7. Get pedi. Do a simple pedicure for your partner. It only takes a couple of steps. Allow them to soak their feet (incorporate #6), then you simple push back their cuticles with some cuticle oil, clip their toe nails, file them down and moisturize. Viola, you're done!
  8. Go bare. Remove the socks and shoes of your partner's feet and just be bare. This is super important in grounding yourself. Our feet were made for us to be barefoot. So, dance around the house. Get silly and simple be bare.
  9. Spa it up. We have mentioned doing a simple pedi for your partner. What about a fancy one? You will need foot polish, a foot masque and a relaxing foot spray.
  10. This little piggy. Play footsies games with your partner. At the end of the day, what better way to see them smile.
  11. For ladies only. Paint your partner's toes with a non-toxic nail polish. Add another level of sensuality by creating a breeze. Gently blow on your partner's feet to help dry the polish.
  12. Stomp. It's a experience they will never forget, but grab some grapes and have them stomp on them. Grapes have tartaric and malic acids that will allow for a gentle exfoliation and some fun. If you don't want to do grapes, simply rub some lemon slices on your partners feet.
  13. Treat them like a Sundae. Drizzle your favorite toppings on their toes. And we will let you figure the out the rest.
  14. Play tootsies. Who doesn't like to play tootsies with their partner. Just cuddle up and watch a big smile on their face as your play. Be sure you have prepped your toes prior to this, which you can do in a few easy steps.

We hope you have enjoyed our list of partner pampering fun. Be sure to have fun no matter which one you try. There are no rules. You can do one or pair several of them together for the ultimate pampering experience. Happy Valentine's Day!

For those of us who don't have the time, desire or money to run to the nail salon, we wanted to share a quick & easy solution for a fraction of the cost. Here are a few easy steps for the perfect party-ready pedi.

Gather all of your items and tools together before getting started....
Our suggestions: small hand towel, pumice (if desired), nail file, toe nail clippers, foot polish, foot butter and favorite non-toxic nail polish and remover, pedicure tools and toe separator.

Remove toe nail polish and trim toe nails. It is important to cut and file toenails before soaking or showering.

To save time take a shower and thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate your feet in the shower (However, if you have time, SOAK your feet). Use your foot pumice to focus on removing dead skin from your heels and rough spots. If you desire, you can use an exfoliating foot polish to target these areas as well.

Dry off feet and immediately moisturize, using a foot butter, foot mist or antioxidant foot serum.

Before moving to polishing your toes, this is a great time to push back your cuticles and ensure under your toe nails are clean. Our foot massage oil is perfect to double as a cuticle oil. We include essential oils such as myrrh and carrot seed that do amazing things for our nails.

Clean your nails with witch hazel or alcohol to prep toes for nail polish. Next, apply your favorite non-toxic nail polish, like Ella + Mila Gilded.

The whole process takes meer minutes! If you want to pamper yourself to the next level check out our Ultimate 15-minute Pedicure. Curious about some other fabulous non-toxic nail polish brands? Most of us are sharers...we learn sharing is caring in kindergarten. But, what if we told you that sharing can lead to nasty infections, spreading of yucky bacteria and overall very unhappy feet. There are a few items you may not even think can cause cross contamination of icky bacteria and infections, but we are here to tell you there is a chance.

Here is our list of items your should never share for healthy feet:

  1. TOE NAIL CLIPPERS: Yes, even if you clean with alcohol the best practice is to just have separate clippers than sharing. Our nails can be infected with all kinds of bacteria even when they appear clean and healthy.
  2. FOOT PUMICE: With all the nooks & crannies its a breeding ground for bacteria and old skin. It's best to avoid sharing this and if you nail salon tries to use one on your....RUN!
  3. NAIL FILE: Let us paint a picture for you, a friend of yours comes over to get ready to go out. She wants to put on a pair of pantyhose, but notices one of her toe nails has a jagged edge. Before to puts a ruin in her pantyhose she asks if she can borrow your nail file. What you didn't know is that she has toe fungus. Get the picture?  Also add any nail tools such as cuticle tools or buffers.
  4. SHOES: Forget about the saying..."Walk a mile in someone's shoes", because what they don't tell you is that you can end up with Athlete's foot or some other gross infection. Your feet sweat all day long and no matter how clean the person is, there are just things you can't see with the naked eye.
  5. NAIL POLISH: Ok, our opinion differs from the masses. We did our research and realize in general you can share nail polishes. However, here is our take... We are moving away from toxic nail polishes more and more. We started with 3 FREE Non-toxic nail polish and now there are brands that are 10 FREE, which is absolutely amazing! We believe it is just safe practice to not share your nail polishes and to always take your own nail polish to nail salons.

There was a time when finding a non-toxic nail polish was super difficult. The ones that did exist were 3 FREE and had very basic colors, which did not necessarily appeal to the masses. Now, there is a mass variety of polishes at various price points that come in amazing bright & vivid colors. There are some brands that have pushed the spectrum and now offer 8 FREE nail polishes (even 9 FREE).  Just in case you are not aware of what 5 FREE or 8 FREE means, here is a breakdown.

It means that the nail polishes are made without the 3 common chemicals, which are Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Formaldehyde. Plus, the are two additional chemicals removed from the recipe, which are very dangerous chemicals (Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor).

It mans that eight chemicals are removed from the ingredients list, which are formaldehyde, DBP, toluene, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene and parabens. Even with removing these chemicals the nail polish is durable with high shine. We love nail polishes that are vegan, cruelty-free and gluten free.

  1. LONDONTOWN – 9 FREE ($16) Think of a color in your head and then go to this site. The range of colors of these nail polishes is amazing! <Find out about 9 FREE>
  2. BUTTER LONDON – 8 FREE ($15) We love the price and highly pigmented colors. Most of all their formula is chip proof! Also, before you purchase a color, the site does a great job at showing a range of skin tones to give an idea how the color will appear on your hands.
  3. MISCHO BEAUTY – 8 FREE ($18) One of the most unique nail lacquer colors. Combined with a lasting nail polish formula with a smooth finish makes this brand worth every penny.
  4. ELLA + MILA – 5 FREE ($10.50) Besides the obvious, which is a great price. They thick formula allows for less coats, plus they have a quick dry formula. We love the simple packaging and Mommy & me sets.
  5. SMITH & CULT – 5 FREE ($18) Immediate attention grabber is the packaging of this brand, but their polishes are wonderful with the amazing colors.
Before you go, here are a few quick tips to remove your polish without using a super toxic nail polish remover. Remember, your skin and nails absorbs 60% of what you put on them.

  1. Use a “natural” nail polish remover. <Organic Lavender Nail Polish Remover>
  2. Paint your nail with some clear nail polish and then before it dries, swipe a cotton ball over it to remove old nail polish.
  3. Be sure to use the Elmer’s Natural School Glue and paint the glue onto your nails. Allow the glue to dry. After the glue is dry, you can apply your base coats & nail polish. When its time to remove, simply soak your hands in warm soapy water and the polish will peel off with ease!
These are our go to polishes when we want to pamper our nails with high quality products, potent colors and safe to use on our nails. It doesn’t matter if you are looking for bold color or soft neutral tones, our list has something for everyone.
